League Champs

The last hockey game of the season was a doozy.  If only you could have been there.  Henry's team won their League Championship in a double shoot-out.

Georgia graciously agreed to miss her lacrosse practice, so that I could go to the game and I'm so glad I didn't miss it.  (that's Henry in the middle, by the way)

Our team was losing 2-0 after the first two periods.

But in the break before the third period, the coach gave his players what was obviously an amazing pep talk because at the end of regulation time, the score was 2-2.

Then came four minutes of overtime, when neither side scored.

Followed by a nail-biting first shoot-out where they tied again.

And then another shoot-out where our team claimed victory!

We won!

The winning shot!  (don't you just want to yell "lower your arm!" to the poor goalie)

Never have I watched a more exciting game.  Of course, I didn't actually watch the shoot-out parts.  Josie and I had to avert our eyes more than once.  It was entirely too stressful for us.  Georgia, on the other hand wasn't phased at all.  She was hungry and bored and to her the double shoot out meant a further delay in getting home and eating a snack.

The boys were so excited and so were the parents.  It's always fun to win, but a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat end to the season is something else entirely.

Hockey season is now officially over.
