Field Hockey Camp 2012

This is the long-awaited week of field hockey camp for Josie!  Yesterday morning, bright and early, Josie donned her sneakers, shin and mouth guards and picked up her stick.

She did the running warm ups:

She practiced holding her stick and batting around the ball:

A team meeting was called:

before more drills were begun:

I only stayed about 30 minutes to watch the campers go through their paces, but it looked like Josie was having a blast.

This is the third year that Josie has done this particular field hockey camp and she really looked forward to the week.  It's run by the women's field hockey coach at Tufts University and two of the college students help out.  I know I've said it before, but there aren't very many sport options for young girls in our town and it pleases me to no end to see so many girls getting an opportunity to try something different.  It also pleases me to see Josie act enthusiastically about any sport, but that's another story!
