Within The Speed Limit

Last spring, our town installed solar-paneled radar detectors near each elementary school in hopes that they might encourage commuting drivers to slow down.  About a week after the installation, The Children Elliot discovered that the signs came with an added bonus.  The radar is so sensitive, that it also picks up other movements... including the speed of running children.

Each morning on our walk to school, we pause about a block away from the radar detector to allow any passing cars to speed by...

and then Josie and Georgia take off in pursuit of the highest possible mile-per-hour score.

Josie mostly gets nines, and Georgia mostly gets elevens.

But this morning, there was much rejoicing, because Georgia up-ed her game and reached 13 mph!

The posted speed limit is 20mph, so we are still within the legal limit!

It is good to know Brian isn't the only one who uses them to test his speed! I think Georgia might have him beat though!

T - I NEVER even try my speed! I'd hate to see that 1 mph flash up on the screen!
