Another Year of Field Hockey Camp

Josie did her third year of field hockey camp at Tufts University in July.

Josie absolutely loves field hockey camp.  It's run by the Tufts Varsity Field Hockey Coach who does an amazing job mixing field hockey skills / drills with fun games and a goodie bag.  Who isn't a sucker for a goodie bag?

I brought along my camera on the last day of camp.  It was in the low 60s and the coach had the girls do a nice long run to warm up:

Josie, as she is wont to do, did not run the entire way.

She preferred the stick-handling drills and the games which involved scoring goals.

I think the last year of ice hockey has made Josie more confident about field hockey.

Believe it or not, the start of ice hockey season is just around the the corner.  Josie and Henry are going to the same hockey camp at the end of August and then town hockey begins not much later.  Josie will be on the Mite B team where she'll be the only girl.  Gordy and I aren't sure how Josie will feel about this fact.  The good news is that she knows a bunch of the boys on her team and is actually friends with one (the famous Harry from the Fourth of July games at our pool).  The bad news is that we know she would rather be on an all-girls team.  Next year, she'll be able to join the u10 all-girls team, but until then, she has to stick with the boys.

I hope she also sticks with field hockey.  It's outdoor, fresh-air hockey - what's not to love?
