It May Be 95+ Degrees Outside But...

it's still Hockey season.

At least at our house.

Henry has joined a new club hockey team this year and his new coach has assigned a puck-shooting assignment for the summer.  And since Henry has to shoot pucks, Josie has to shoot pucks, too.

That's just the way it works.

On Saturday morning, Henry and Josie got out the plastic sheet, the net, the pucks and the hockey sticks and got to work.

Josie tried a few shots and Henry gave her some brotherly pointers.

and then Henry took his turn.

and no one gave him pointers.

Getting out the gear took longer than the practice.

That's what always happens with kids.  It's like when you have toddlers in the winter and you spend 20 minutes putting on their warm clothes, their hats, mittens, snow pants and coat.  You tie a scarf around their neck and put on their boots and 20 minutes later, you're ready to send them out to play in the snow... and then 2 minutes later, they come back covered in snow, cold out of their mind and wet and ready to play inside.

I'm happy that the kids have this assignment.  I like any project that gets my children out of the house and exercising.

I'm not so sure how I feel about hockey starting back up in a few short weeks.  I do feel like summer only just started (because it did) and the thought that hockey - and school - is only just around the corner makes me a little sick.

August always goes by too fast for me.

It does go by way too fast and you all have certainly had a short summer!
