The Boston Breakers

Recently, Gordy and I took the children to see a Professional Women's soccer match.  It was the Boston Breakers verses The Portland Thorns and the world famous Alex Morgan was playing for the Thorns.  The girls were very, very excited .... and Henry was completely unimpressed.  Soccer is not a sport Henry enjoys, and he would like you all to know that he only agreed to join this family excursion because he was promised ice cream.

It was a very hot afternoon and the sun was beating down on us.  It was a standing-room only crowd and most people were there to see Alex Morgan.  I felt rather sad for the Boston Breakers.  I hope they get this many spectators for the rest of their games.

At the beginning of the game, the teams posed with some members of local soccer clubs.

And I was able to get a few photos of the famous Alex Morgan

The game was very exciting.  Alex Morgan aside, I routed for the Breakers and was thrilled when they got the first goal.

Most of the soccer I watch involves ten year olds, so this game was a lot faster and whole lot more skilled.  We were all impressed --- except for Henry, who finished his Italian Ice before the game began and found himself fighting boredom for the remaining 90 minutes.

The Portland Thorns won the game.  All the girls who were there cheering for Alex Morgan were thrilled, but I felt sad for the home team.  It just wasn't their day.
