While the Southerns were here over the Christmas holidays, we took them to a local ice rink for a free skate. What is an every day activity to us in New England is a novelty to our warm-climated cousins.
It took a few laps for them to get their "ice legs."
Unless you do it all the time, skating is exhausting. Your ankles buckle, your calves start to burn... it's cold (okay, no one complains about the cold but me).
I was impressed with the effort being extended...
but I'm pretty sure that Lily and Avery were happy that free skate was only an hour!
